Symbian increases lead in EMEA smart mobile device market

Microsoft’s overall share of the smart mobile device market in Q3 2006 is sitting at 16.9 percent, down from 18.0 percent a year ago. This happened despite shipments of Windows Mobile based converged devices, i.e. smart phones and wireless handhelds, increasing by almost 80 percent year-on-year.

Microsoft, along with Palm, is suffering from the heavy decline is the sales of stand alone PDA’s.
